1994年我从德国柏林艺术大学毕业回到北京，举办的第一个展览是在“当代美术馆”展示我在德国学习期间创作的铜版画以及装置作品。也就是在这个展览开幕式上，我与布朗先生相识，促成了后来十五年中的多次合作，结下深厚的友谊。回顾十五年的历程，我在红门画廊举办过多次展览，而每一次展览都是我在艺术探索上具有转型意味的时刻，也是一次未知的探险。在此过程中许多朋友、收藏家也都成为相互了解与知心的朋友，伴随我一同见证了我的艺术成长历程。

这次展览所展示的作品是我二千年来在版画创作中具有代表性的作品，在内容、形式、材料以及观念等方面，在不同时期、不同背景下，也随之不断变化。今天把这些看起来有很多区别的作品置放在同一个空间的时候，一个贯穿于作品之其中的精神会自然显现出来。

这次展览既是一个短暂的回顾，同时也是提供大家见面交流的一次机会。

When I returned to Beijing in 1994 after graduating from Berlin University of the Arts, I held my first exhibition at the Contemporary Art Museum and showed the etchings and installations I had created during my time studying in Germany. At the opening of that exhibition I became acquainted with Brian Wallace and this spurred us on to co-operate on numerous occasions over the following fifteen years and laid the foundations for a deep friendship. Reviewing the course of those fifteen years, I held numerous exhibitions at Red Gate Gallery, and each exhibition was held at what seems to have been a time of transition in my artistic exploration as well as signaling a new venture into the unknown. This process created a mutual understanding with many close friends and collectors who have stayed the course witnessing the development of my art.

The works in this exhibition are my representative prints created over the past twenty years, and in terms of content, form, materials and concepts they have constantly changed in different periods, and against different backgrounds. Today, with so many different works put on display in the one space, the spirit that runs through all of these works naturally emerges.

This exhibition is a transient retrospective, at the same time as it provides an opportunity for everyone to meet up again and interact.
